Apparently Shokley was a better physicit than a father or husband or Manager. In Chip War Chris Miller writes that Shockley was such a Bad Manager that his employees left and founded Fairchild Semiconductor.

Screening for the Down syndrome has been available to consumers for a long time, it's eugenics in exactly the same way. While technically correct, I think in practice this term is only used by despicable people to tar these great ideas with the guilt-by-association.
